How long is the eTA valid?
After obtaining your eTA (electronic Travel Authorization) which is called theAVE Canada in French, you can board for Canada. Your electronic travel authorization is valid for five years , or until your passport expires. However, your length of stay in Canada cannot exceed 6 months. However, you can leave and re-enter Canada several times until the 6 months expire.

Most of the time, the eTA application via the Internet is validated in a few minutes. Sometimes the processing time is longer. If your Electronic Travel Authorization is “pending” you will receive the response email from the Canadian administration (IRCC) within hours or days. Sometimes it is requested to provide additional supporting documents.
